The market for online villa bookings has become highly competitive in the UK in recent years. In order to stand out from the crowd Villa Select wanted to use a traditional affiliate marketing model to increase their online visibility and sales conversions.
When the Villa Select and Bite Digital began to work together Villa Select had been running an affiliate campaign for 18 months, but it hadn’t been as successful as they had hoped. They asked Bite Digital to deliver a strategic solution aimed at finding a way of gaining traction with the affiliates and increasing the proportion of online sales being delivered by the channel.
There were three key objectives to be met:
- Increase visibility of the Villa Select brand on key affiliate sites
- Grow the number of sales delivered via the affiliate channel
- Work to the set cost per sale margins
Bite Digital spoke to key affiliates running similar programmes to discover what would encourage them to give increased exposure to the Villa Select brand, with a view to increasing the sales being delivered by the channel.
As a result of this, the decision was made to change the site to reduce the possibility of sales leakage, Villa Select were then also able to introduce specific affiliate incentives and promotions, this not only kept the affiliates happy but also allowed them to target consumers with appropriate offers.
