Website structure will help organisations attain their search engine optimisation (SEO) goals
Date: 12.04.2009A straightforward, unambiguous website structure will help organisations attain their search engine optimisation (SEO) goals, according to a sales executive at Google.
Speaking at a recent SEO debate organised by the Association of Online Publishers, Jean-Laurent Wotton said Google rewards websites that have a user-friendly GUI (Graphical User Interface) layout. He recommended companies to use their entire website content to attract traffic, using expressive and precise title tags that follow on logically from the title of the page. Organisations should also pay consideration to the 'description meta tag' for their website, which is the description that shows in Google's search engine results pages (SERP's), as this can induce users to enter. Lastly, specialised sitemaps aught to be used to "improve the web crawl", Mr Wotton further added.
Jason Cozens at Bite Digital's search engine optimization Manchester office said: "There are some basic SEO mistakes that we often see with beginners. Among them are repetitive keyword targeting and keyword stuffing, which rarely result in effective SEO."
