Possible Yahoo-Microsoft Deal could Impact on SEO

The digital media is full of the possible deal between Microsoft and Yahoo.  The deal would mean Yahoo giving up its search technology and leasing from Microsoft instead.  This would reduce the quantity of major search engines from three to two.

Google doesn’t seem to be phased by the possible deal.  But it’s feared in the industry that the reduction in competition could have a detrimental effect on innovation – less competition equals less need to develop new technology.

SEO experts, like Bite Digital’s Search Engine Optimisation Manchester Team, are reducing their reliance on Yahoo’s search related tools in anticipation of changes in this area.
