Capitalise on Christmas Sales with SEO

Yesterday online retailers saw sales peek as the Christmas rush began.  Although final figures are not yet in Visa Europe were predicting that yesterday would be the busiest online shopping day of the year with 2.4 million online purchases expected.

The number of sales forecast exceeds last years busiest day by 9% and the previous years by 34%.

Predicting record online sales this year are retailers like Amazon, John Lewis and Argos.

Figures from IMRG, the trade organisation for online retailers, show that UK internet sales have grown by 14% this year.  Internet sales reached £40bn in the first 10 months of the year. During 2008 UK consumers spent an estimated £9.3bn online during November and December, and this year IMRG forecasts  a15% growth.

According IMRG the most buoyant sectors since the beginning of the year have been clothing and electricals.  Despite disruption during the recent postal strikes sales are up by 18% and 20% respectively in these sectors.
