Small Companies Not Investing in SEO

Date: 27.07.2010

Recent research revealed that a large proportion of small businesses do not use search engine optimisation as a marketing technique. Surprisingly over 50% of companies could be losing out on important potential business.

Our SEO London and Manchester teams find these figures quite worrying as it is essential for any business to incorporate search engine optimisation techniques in their online marketing strategies. Thomsonlocal.com, who undertook the research, discovered that on the whole large company websites are of a high quality, maximising their marketing and retail potential. 70% of small companies who employ less than 50 employees in comparison were found to have basic levels of SEO or no SEO tactics in place.

In response to the findings Marketing Director of Thompson.com, Jill Pringle commented that “Local businesses need to wake up to the fact that investing in better quality websites with original content can bring them new customers more quickly and ensuring that the website that they build is search engine friendly is essential in today's society”.
