Government Splash Out on SEO
Date: 29.07.2010Recently released figures reveal that the Government spends an annual budget of over £6 million on search engine optimisation (SEO).
With over 1.2 billion searches conducted every month on the internet our SEO Manchester team recommend search engine optimisation as an essential way of getting your website to the top of search results. The majority of the budget was spent by the Department of Health to promote their campaigns on the flu pandemic and anti- smoking. It is estimated this department alone spent £4.4 million.
The Department of the Environment were reported to have spent £500,00 and the Department of Energy and Climate Change spent £309,000. An Energy spokesman commented that “Search engines have become an increasingly important method for accessing information...this spending is a cost effective way of getting information to a large audience”.
