Google Under Question in Texas
Date: 08.09.2010Recent reports from USA claim that Google has been taken to court in Texas to answer allegations that they are favouring certain websites over others by placing them higher up a search engine results page.
This is not the first time Google has come under criticism. Earlier this year it was reported that Google was and still is under review by the EU's competition officials due to similar complaints. Don Harrison, Google's Deputy General Counsel said “ The important thing to remember is that we built Google to provide the most useful, relevant search results and ads for users. Given that not every website can be at the top of the results, or even appear on the first page of our results, it is unsurprising that some less relevant, lower quality websites will be unhappy with their ranking”.
Google is the leading search engine worldwide holding 70% of the market. It is a highly respected and very influential company. Our SEO London team note that interestingly the term Google has been recognised as a verb and has been included in the Oxford English Dictionary since 2006.
