Is Facebook More Popular Than Google?

Date: 23.09.2010

Online tracking company comScore, recently released figures showing that people in USA are spending more web time on Facebook than on Google.

Figures show that in the month of August internet users in the US spent 41.4 million minutes on Facebook in comparison to 37.7 million minutes on Google. This number also included Google's Youtube and Gmail sites. 2010 has been Facebooks year for growth. Our SEO Manchester team agree that Facebook is a phenomenally successful social networking site.

Some analysts suggest that Facebook success this year is due to the revamp of the users homepage. Others say it is down to the increase in popularity of social networking sites with everyone jumping on the bandwagon wanting to be a part of this trendy new phenomenon. How will this affect Google? Advertisers could possibly move their business over to Facebook, however, Google is a powerful search engine and as technology advances Google will strive to stay strong and ahead of the game.
