The war between Apple and Google

Date: 28.12.2011

The war of the mobiles between Apple and Android has been going on for a while now but last week came results of the manufacturer's stats for Christmas day. That particular date is always the most important for the OS activations because many people open their gifts to find shiny new phones but this year, it has exceeded most people's expectations. The average figure of iOS and Android activations for the first few weeks of December were around 1.5 million a day but this year on Christmas day, an average of 6.8 million devices were activated in that period which compared to last year saw an increase of over 2 million. With this record breaking surge of app downloading from both iOS and Android shows how large the mobile manufacturing industry is becoming, this year alone, ITunes showed an average of 10 billion apps which is more than the last 3 years of purchases combined. This year, seems the two competitors have had their work cut out for themselves with Apple just inching behind with Android's popularity but with Google releasing their new tablet in the next six months, next year will defiantly be huge fight for downloads.
